After Snana (bathing) ceremony conducted on Snana Purnima, all the three deities fall ill and are taken to Anasara Ghara (sick room), where they rest for 15 days. The servitors perform secret rituals to heal them and the ailing deities are offered fruits and herbal medicines during this period. After recovering from fever, ‘Banakalagi’ seva is done by the Datta Mahapatra Servitors. It is a process of applying fresh natural colours on the idols to rejuvenate their appearance. Various kinds of natural colours like Hingula, Haritala, Kasturi, Keshar and Kaintha gum are used to prepare Banaka. The devotees get an opportunity to view the new youthful look of the deities on Naba Joubana day, also known as Netra Utsav.
