Lord Jagannatha has been identified with Krishna and most of the rituals performed in Sreemandir is related to Krishna Leela who is an avatar of Lord Jagannath. Bana Bhoji means picnic. On this occasion Lord Jagannath with the other deities are adorned with attires like those of cowherd boys. This bhesha is inspired from Krishna leela during his childhood, when he went for picnic with his cowherd friends. This Bhesha is observed on the 10th day of dark fortnight of Bhadrab month.
