Welcome to Sree Neelachala Seva Sangha! We are a non-profit organization established in 1967 on the auspicious day of Akshya Tritya by Durjyodhan Pradhan and Bhramarabar Pradhan. Our mission is to promote spirituality, art and culture through the worship of Lord Jagannath and Mausi Maa.
After a thorough search and due diligence with the help of the then Member of Parliament Sri R.N Singh Deo and the Delhi Lt. Governor L N Jha, we were able to find the appropriate land in Hauz Khas which was almost similar to Jagananth Mandir, Puri. In the same year i.e. 1967, we started construction of the temple which was planned to be a two-floor temple where the Ground Floor would be the temple of Mausi Maa and the First Floor would be the temple for Lord Jagannath.
It took five years to complete the Ground Floor of the temple and in the same year i.e. in 1971, when the first floor was completed, Sree Neelachala Seva Sangha started worshiping Mausi Maa. The same vigraha of Lord Jagannath which was given by the poor people of Banapur was also worshipped along with the Goddess Mausi Maa there until the main temple on the first floor was built. After seven years, in 1978, the main Temple of Lord Jagannath was constructed and Deities were established. The construction and architecture of the Jagannath Temple, Hauz Khas was done by the Pradhan & Uppal Ghose Company.
As per recorded history, the Jagannath Mandir, Hauz Khas is the first and the oldest Jagannath temple built in Delhi in the year 1967. It is managed by Sree Neelachala Seva Sangha which was established in the year 1967. Our management has been organising Rath Yatra every year in accordance with the rituals of Puri Jagannath Mandir. In the same manner, bhoga or the Mahaprasad is also being prepared and distributed to the devotees.
For Pravasi Odias, who are residing in Delhi, it is the main centre for cultural expression for celebrating different festivals. The temple remains at the hearts of the devotees as the most preferred centre of spirituality, art and culture. Join us in our devotion to Lord Jagannath and Mausi Maa and experience the richness of Odia culture.
